Steve Hammerstrom, D.C., C.C.S.P., C.C.R.P.
*Certified Chiropractic Sports Physician
*Certified Chiropractic Rehabilitation Physician
*Developer of the Neuroemotional Overload technique
Steve Hammerstrom, a Certified Chiropractic Sports Physician and Certified Chiropractic Rehabilitation Physician, grew up on a small farm in northwest Iowa. Steve attended Lake View-Auburn High School, where he excelled in basketball, football, track, baseball, and golf. During his senior year, Steve was named as a first-team all-conference recipient in basketball, football, and baseball.
Steve graduated, with honors, in 1977 and went on to William Penn College in Oskaloosa, IA. Here Steve continued playing basketball and baseball while completing his education in 3 years before being admitted to Palmer College of Chiropractic in Davenport, IA. It was at this time Steve discovered the sport of rugby and, during his final year at Palmer, was part of the team which finished in the top 4 in the country.
While attending Palmer, Steve worked with Dr. Mitchell Mally, DC, who developed an amazing technique for adjusting extremities. Because of these advanced skills Steve learned from Dr. Mally, Steve quickly developed a reputation for treating athletic injuries. Steve started his practice in Iowa City on December 3, 1983, and, within 2 years, was treating many injured athletes, including Iowa Hawkeye athletes. For 15 years, Steve worked closely with the football program, treating over 200 players. He also worked closely with the wrestling program for 7 years in the early 2000s. Hawkeye basketball, track, and baseball athletes have also benefited from Steve’s practice. Steve successfully treats injured athletes and non-athletes alike to this day.
During the early 2000s, Steve expanded his knowledge in applied kinesiology and became an advanced doctor in Total Body Modification. This technique uses muscle testing on reflex points, allowing the patient’s body to decipher if the problem is a weakness or a disease process in an organ or possibly caused by a viral, bacterial, parasitic, or fungal infection or underlying emotional blockage or overload. Because of this technique, Steve started working on health issues most chiropractors do not. Steve has helped patients with candida, parasite issues, long-term bacterial and viral infections, Lyme disease, and "long" COVID.
In 2010, Steve sold his practice in Iowa City and started working with several doctors in the Cedar Rapids area. One of these physicians has a holistic wellness clinic with a primary focus on treating patients with physical ailments like gastrointestinal, hormonal, and chronic infections. After several years of working closely with these chronic patients and collaborating with their other doctors, Steve decided to open his treatment center.
Steve has always believed the power that made the body can heal the body. All we have to do, as the treating doctor, is find the roadblock and remove it, and the body can heal itself. This led to the founding of Premier Holistic Wellness & Energy Enhancement Center in 2024. Steve’s mission: to help people on their journey to a new and healthy life by providing access to current, non-invasive technology, as well as time-tested treatment protocols. Also, there is no need to give up the medical treatments you may already be receiving! Sometimes, it takes a group of specialists to stop a disease process so the body may heal.
